Burrell McGhee Jr,  his name is etched into the foundation of the program. The all-time leading scorer in Kent State men’s basketball history with 1,710 points, he remains the only player in school history to earn First Team All-MAC honors three times. 13 Golden Flash records… 68 straight games scoring in double figures. During the 1977–78 season, he ranked 12th in the nation in scoring at 21.9 points per game, earning Honorable Mention All-American recognition and becoming just the third Kent State player to ever lead the MAC in scoring.

The Warren, Ohio native, was known for late-game shots,  tough angles, and delivering in pressure moments.

 His foundation was built at Warren Western Reserve High School. (Warren,OH), where he graduated in 1974 as Class AAA All-Ohio Player of the Year.   All-Big Eight,  All-District, as well as All-Regional.  Six varsity letters across basketball, football, and track.   A true athlete in every sense, capped by an appearance in the prestigious Dapper Dan Roundball Classic.  (Yea Dapper Dan Classic is fire!)

Born February 7, 1955, in Warren, Ohio, he majored in Physical Education at Kent State.
